With a deep commitment to foster peace education in all Schools in Rwanda, The Rwanda Conference of Catholic Bishops – Secretariat for Education partners with the Peace Education Foundation to train more than 40 educators from all 9 dioceses in Rwanda in valuable Conflict Resolution and Peer Mediation Skills and curricula using the Train-the-Trainer model. Its aim is to create Diocesan teams that can spread peace education to all Schools in the country sowing the seeds of peace and reconciliation for a future free of violence for the children of Rwanda.

As part of an ongoing collaborative agreement, faculty from the schools of Education and Political Science are trained by Peace Education Foundation facilitators in our dynamic Conflict Resolution and Mediation Model. They in turn are now conducting classes in the University’s School of Continuing Education and reaching remote rural indigenous communities impacted by decades of violent conflict with seminars that support and implement Colombia’s reconciliation and peace process and foster “sustainable green communities for peace.”

The Peace Education participates in the XXIV AFECTO Conference for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Colombia:

“The Children Come First”. This interdisciplinary conference gathered close to 800 participants (Psychologists, Pediatricians, Nurses, Social Workers, Prosecutors, Judges, Child Welfare Services, Municipal Police, Military Police, Educators, etc.). The Peace Education Foundation conducts workshops during the conference on Conflict Resolution and Mediation Skills to foster a climate of peace and reconciliation to aid in the Colombian Peace Process.

The Peace Education Foundation, in partnership with the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (The Pontifical Javeriana University), trained a cadre of university professors to promote “sustainable green communities for peace” by providing capacity building and leadership training to 81 indigenous “campesina” women from Piendamó in Colombia’s Cauca River Valley.

Entre Rios Province celebrates its first-ever Peace Education Conference and gathers over 180 participants from urban and rural schools throughout the province to tackle violence prevention in schools and society and the serious social and educational challenges faced by children, teachers, and parents. The Peace Education Foundation, with generous support from the Adrian Dominican Sisters and the Irish Dominican Sisters of Cabra, provides conflict resolution training to all 180 educators and curricula to all school districts in the province. Local teachers, trained by Peace Education, teach conference participants how to use the Peacemaking Skills Curriculum for Early Childhood and Primary School Children using the I-Care Rules and I-Care Cat: We Listen to Each Other, Hands are for Helping not Hurting, We use I-Care Language, We care about each other’s feelings, We are responsible for what we say and do….
