EDUCATING FOR PEACE & KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE

Entre Rios Province celebrates its first-ever Peace Education Conference and gathers over 180 participants from urban and rural schools throughout the province to tackle violence prevention in schools and society and the serious social and educational challenges faced by children, teachers, and parents.

The Peace Education Foundation, with generous support from the Adrian Dominican Sisters and the Irish Dominican Sisters of Cabra, provides conflict resolution training to all 180 educators and curricula to all school districts in the province. Local teachers, trained by Peace Education, teach conference participants how to use the Peacemaking Skills Curriculum for Early Childhood and Primary School Children using the I-Care Rules and I-Care Cat: We Listen to Each Other, Hands are for Helping not Hurting, We use I-Care Language, We care about each other’s feelings, We are responsible for what we say and do. Over 50 parents in Rosario, Argentina also received valuable Conflict Resolution training for their families and homes. Here they are shown participating in the “balloon toss” game where they envision the dreams and aspirations they have for their children.
