The “Fe y Alegria Centro Educativo Espiritu Santo” School in “El Cruce de Arroyo Hondo,” Matanzas, Bani, Domincan Republic gather 72 teachers for staff development in Conflict Resolution and Peer Mediation over two days. Teachers from pre-school to grade 12 entered into a dynamic activity-based learning process as they delved into the PeaceWorks Curricula games and lessons in order to strengthen the Peace Education program in their school and community. The “Fe y Alegria” network of schools serve the poorest children in the Dominican Republic and throughout Latin America where they are beacons of hope to entire communites. This resilient school is led by Adrian Dominican Sisters who have accompanied this remarkable community building project since it’s foundation in 1994. Thanks to the generous support of the Adrian Dominican Sisters Ministry Fund, Peace Education Foundation has provided meaningful assistance in the area of violence prevention for the school and community since 2002.
