IT’S NOT THE CHILD’S FAULT! XXVI AFECTO CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION CONFERENCE TRAINS FOR PEACE

The Peace Education Foundation is invited as co-sponsor and presenter to 142 participants at the XVI Afecto Conference for the Prevention of Child Abuse hosted by the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in Bogota, Colombia with the theme of “It’s Not the Child’s Fault!” The Peace Education Foundation is proud to continue this decades long collaboration with “Asociacion Afecto” and its founder Dr. Isabel Cuadros which advocate on behalf of abused children and women in Colombia. The Afecto Conference gathers more than 800 participants from all disciplines related to children and families in an attempt to bring about positive structural and systematic legal and social change in Colombia’s treatment of child and women victims of violence in all sectors of society. 142 attendees opted to participate in two Peace Education workshops bringing an array of interdisciplinary expertise to this unique training where Conflict Resolution skills were applied to their respective disciplines and work on behalf of abused and victimized children and women. Among the attendees were parents, educators, nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists, clergy, police, prosecutors, public defenders, judges, military police, and government officials. All part of “Afecto” and Peace Education Foundation’s support for Colombia’s Peace Process which seeks to end decades of armed conflict and civil strife.
